Appliqué, Embroidery & Block Printing for Personal Storytelling
Appliqué, Embroidery & Block Printing for Personal Storytelling
April 25, 2026 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
In this three-part workshop series, we'll explore how to transform clothing into personal, story-rich piece through drawing and textile techniques. Each class begins with drawing as a way to develop your own visual language-- simple, expressive motifs rooted in memory, symbolism, and everyday life.
From there, you'll translate your imagery into cloth using three different approaches: embroidery, appliqué, and block-printing. Together, these methods offer multiple ways to mark, layer, and reimagine garments-- whether you're revitalizing something from your closet or upcycling a new-to-you garment. Rooted in folk-art sensibility, this series embraces imperfection, texture, and the idea that the magic is in the making. Support by the Ashfield Cultural Council and Belding Memorial Library.
RSVP: 413-628-4414 bmlashfield@gmail.com
Limited to 12 participants per workshop.
Bring 2-3 clothing items to embellish. All other materials provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note these activities include using sharp objects such as sewing needles, scissors, and linoleum block carving chisels.
Saturday April 25: Embroidery
Saturday May 23: Raw Edge Appliqué (sewing machine required)
Saturday June 13: Block-printing
Workshops run from 10AM to 1PM.

There is no critiquing, just appreciation for sharing inspired words.
Our optional theme is "Ephemeral".
Join with Arianna Alexsandra Collins of Offerings for Community Building. Tea and treats will be served.
